
Islamabad: A three-day Early Rehabilitation in Emergency Training of Trainers (ERIE ToT) was organized in collaboration with Rehab Initiative (RI), bringing together 13 physiotherapists and orthoprosthetists from leading healthcare institutions and humanitarian organizations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Participants represented the Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Health Department of AJ&K, Handicap International Humanity & Inclusion–Pakistan, Khyber Medical University, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, and the Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals/DHQ Swat.
The training focused on developing a sustainable network of qualified master trainers capable of strengthening emergency response systems through the delivery of timely, appropriate, and high-quality early rehabilitation services during emergencies.
By bringing together rehabilitation professionals from diverse sectors, the programme promoted collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordinated preparedness to enhance rehabilitation services for people affected by emergencies. The initiative emphasized the importance of integrating early rehabilitation into emergency response to improve service delivery and build long-term institutional capacity.
The Training of Trainers marks an important step toward strengthening the rehabilitation workforce and supporting more effective emergency preparedness and response through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
