UAE provided prosthesis to 61 amputees in Pakistan

In continuation of support by the UAE to the persons with disabilities due to explosions and bomb blasts in the former tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtoon Khawah , artificial limbs were provided to eight men and two women from South Waziristan. With the support of Pakistan bait ul Mall (PBM) and Pakistan Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics (PIPOS), UAE has funded and provided Sixty-one amputees with different prostheses so far in the past few years.

To encourage them, the Honorable UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi, invited them to the embassy on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. A ceremony was organized to acknowledge their resilience against difficulties and challenges. It was a matter of great effort to bring them to everyday life. Managing Director, PBM, Malik Zaheer Abbass, also attended the ceremony.

Speaking on occasion, Ambassador Al Zaabi said: “It’s a matter of pleasure and satisfaction to me for bringing these people back into active life,” he said. He also appreciated the role and efforts of Pakistan Bait Ul Mal to support the community and vowed to strengthen links with the organization.

The amputees were very happy to receive the artificial limbs and financial support from the UAE envoy at the event.

MD Mr Abbass shared how they provided the artificial limbs with the clinical and technical help of the Pakistan Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics. He expressed his gratitude to the UAE envoy for collaboration with the PBM to extend generous support to provide artificial limbs.
