
RAHIM YAR KHAN – The Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences at Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) successfully organized an enlightening webinar on “3D Printing and Orthotics” on November 11, 2025. The event was orchestrated by the Institute of Health Sciences, drawing significant attendance from faculty and students alike.

The webinar featured Mr. Syed Irtaza Amir Hassan Kazmi, a distinguished Senior Orthotist and Prosthetist from Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital in Dubai, as the guest speaker. Bringing a wealth of international experience Mr. Kazmi provided an expert perspective on the evolving landscape of patient care.

The session focused on the transformative role of 3D printing technology in the fields of orthotics and prosthetics. Mr. Kazmi emphasized the current clinical demand and the expansive future role of this innovative technology, highlighting its potential to revolutionize the design, customization, and production of medical devices for enhanced patient treatment.
The event was well-attended by faculty members including Dr. Rao Waqas (Head of Department), Dr. Ayesha Durrani, Dr. Sulaiman Saeed, Miss Saba Ajmal, Miss Maria Yaseen, Miss Zainab Ali, Mr. Zia, Miss Neha, and Miss Alisba, alongside a keen cohort of students from the Rehabilitation Sciences department.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Rao Waqas, Head of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Department, expressed his gratitude to the guest speaker and underscored the critical importance of the field. He elaborated on the promising future of orthotics and prosthetics, particularly with the integration of advanced technologies like 3D printing.
