Himmat Card Phase-III launched in Rawalpindi to support persons with disabilities

RAWALPINDI – The Punjab government, under the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, has inaugurated the third phase of its flagship Himmat Card Programme, aimed at providing financial aid and assistive devices to persons with disabilities.

The launch ceremony, organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Punjab on Wednesday, featured the distribution of assistive devices to 65 individuals and new Himmat Cards to 45 beneficiaries. The distributed aids included tricycles, electric and manual wheelchairs, and Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Presiding over the event as the chief guest, Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Mal, Sohail Shaukat Butt, outlined the government’s ambitious plans for the initiative. He announced that the provincial government has set a target to distribute Himmat Cards to 200,000 persons with disabilities in the coming year.

Highlighting the programme’s growing impact, Minister Butt stated, “Last year, 65,000 individuals received Himmat Cards and assistive devices, a number that increased to 100,000 this year.” Under the programme, each registered beneficiary receives a quarterly financial stipend of Rs. 10,500.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Aurangzeb, and Other notable attendees included Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, MNAs Zahra Fatima and Huma Chughtai, and Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema.

Senior officials from the Social Welfare department of Rawalpindi division were also present to oversee the proceedings.
