University of Lahore Hosts Prosthetics & Orthotics Training Session for Gaza’s Visiting Medical Students
The University of Lahore hosted a specialized academic session on Prosthetics & Orthotics for its 4th-year MBBS international students from Gaza on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The session, held on campus, gave students a detailed look at how prosthetic and orthotic care fits into broader rehabilitation medicine.
Led by Hafeez Ul Rehman, Coordinator and Clinical Lead of the Department of Orthotics & Prosthetics at The University of Lahore & Hospital, the session covered the fundamentals of the field alongside its clinical applications, indications, and role in patient recovery. Students were introduced to a range of orthotic and prosthetic devices, examining their design, components, and functional principles firsthand.
Beyond device mechanics, the session emphasized how prosthetics and orthotics function within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, underscoring the collaborative nature of rehabilitation medicine and the importance of cross-specialty coordination in patient care.
For the visiting Gaza students, the session offered more than technical knowledge — it provided a platform for clinical learning and deepened their understanding of rehabilitation as an interdisciplinary practice, reinforcing skills they can carry forward in their medical careers.
