AHPC Mandatory Registration: Orthotists & Prosthetists Must Register by 30 June 2026

The Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC) has issued a nationwide directive reminding all orthotists, prosthetists and other allied health professionals that registration with the Council is now mandatory under the AHPC Act 2022, with a firm deadline of 30 June 2026.

In an official circular (F. No. Imp.10th meeting of SC(Tech)/AHPC/Admin/673/) dated 16 January 2026, the AHPC states that every individual practising in allied health disciplines across Pakistan must be formally registered. The notice, signed by Dr. Ibrar Rafique, Secretary AHPC, follows decisions taken during the 10th meeting of the Sub-committee Technical held on 10 December 2025.

The circular explicitly directs all healthcare facilities — public and private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, educational institutes and Armed Forces medical institutes — to ensure that every allied health professional on their staff completes registration through the official AHPC online portal no later than 30 June 2026.

Why This Matters to Orthotists & Prosthetists

Orthotists and prosthetists provide essential rehabilitation services, designing and fitting artificial limbs, braces and mobility aids for thousands of Pakistanis living with disabilities, amputations and neuromuscular conditions. The AHPC registration process is now the official mechanism to:

  • Verify professional qualifications
  • Standardise clinical practice nationwide
  • Protect patients by ensuring only registered practitioners deliver services
  • Bring orthotics & prosthetics in line with other regulated allied health fields

The circular warns that post-graduate fellows or professionals practising in disciplines not registered with the AHPC may face restrictions as per Council policy after the deadline.

Key Directives from the AHPC Circular

  • Deadline: 30 June 2026 (no extensions mentioned)
  • How to Register: Only through the official AHPC online portal
  • Who Must Register: All currently employed orthotists, prosthetists and other AHPs working in hospitals, clinics, labs or institutes
  • Support Available: Data Centre helpline 0311-1123221 or instructional videos on the official AHPC website (www.ahpc.org.pk)

The AHPC emphasised that “your cooperation is essential to maintain uniform standards of practice and to ensure that only qualified, registered professionals are providing allied health services across the country.”

What Orthotists & Prosthetists Should Do Now

  1. Visit the official AHPC registration portal immediately.
  2. Prepare your academic documents, experience certificates and CNIC.
  3. Complete the online application before the 30 June 2026 cutoff.
  4. If you need help, call the helpline or watch the step-by-step videos on the AHPC website.

Hospitals and institute heads have also been instructed to verify the registration status of every orthotist and prosthetist on their payroll.

This is the first time the AHPC has set a hard nationwide deadline for the entire allied health workforce. Orthotists and prosthetists who register by the deadline will secure their legal right to practise and contribute to a stronger, regulated rehabilitation sector in Pakistan.
